Hawaii Fashion History Five Generations of Fashion~Head to Toe “Fashion for the Elmer J. Scotts is a real family affair. There're involved from head to toe. Elmer’s grandfather manufactured shoes in New England. His father followed in the business. Elmer (Scotty) and his wife Jean began manufacturing plantation-type work shoes in Hawaii in 1933. The Scotts pretty blond daughter, now Mrs. John P. Andersen, has extended the affair with fashion by designing a small charming line under the label Princess Kaiulani Sportswear. Joan is widely known as a model and usually appears on the ramps of all of the big fashion shows in Honolulu., often with daughters Judi, Jill and Jaye. They also have a son Jon. Husband John (Jack) was first drawn into the family shoe business so that the senior Scotts could have time to travel, but the Princess Kaiulani line grew to such proportions that he now devotes fulltime to the garment sales and production.” Fashion Shows For 50 years, Princess Kaiulani Fashions has endeavored to foster the aloha spirit with elegant and exclusively designed fashions for women of Hawaii and afar. Fashion shows have always been a fun and creative way to give back to the community. Joan would go “all out” with fabulous show stoppers!
